Verizon Phishing

Verizon is a company that provides managed security services to various companies. It has added a new feather to its product line by introducing the Verizon phishing solution service to counter phishing fraud. It also protects the users against other problems such as malware, viruses and spyware.

The company has launched a managed web content service that helps control a diverse range of internet threats. This service is network-based and enables companies to monitor and enforce different employee internet usage policies.

The company states that the top five IT security threats are: viruses, worms, unauthorized actions by employees and spyware. Therefore, the Verizon phishing solution service is designed to fight spyware, anti-viruses and perform URL filtering. This helps prevent malicious content from reaching the companies network, infecting local workstations and paralyzing system computers.

The anti-virus service offered by the company scans web traffic that comes to the computer to identify any known viruses and detect potential threats. The anti-spyware service denies any kind of access to web sites which are identified as phishing threat websites.

The URL filtering service monitors employee internet usage and blocks access to websites which do not comply with corporate usage policies.

The Verizon phishing solution service uses software from MessageLabs and also utilizes the data center of that company. The Verizon phishing solution service is available to U.S. based multinational customers. The service costs the company an average of $3 per user, per month and a one-time set-up charge of $80 per user.

If bundled collectively, web anti-spyware and web anti-virus add up to an amount of $2.03 per user, per month. The service is applicable to a site with 1,000 corporate end-users for a three-year term. The web URL filtering service is a separate concern and costs $1.50 per user, per month. Usually, the contract to provide the service is for three years but there are also some flexible options for one and two year contracts.

Verizon has also enhanced the service level agreements (SLAs) for the managed email content service. The company has started to offer a tiered latency guarantee that covers the amount of time it takes to receive, scan and deliver the content of the suspected e-mail. Both the packages are known to support a cross-threat correlation. This includes blocked access to suspected sites and links sent through phishing e-mails.

The packages provided by the Verizon phishing solution service are designed to protect companies against phishing scams and improve internet security.
